Elevating India’s design studies: An Aalto-BITS partnership

BITS Design School, Mumbai recently welcomed the academic leadership from Aalto University, Finland for an engaging discussion about the future of design in India. Aalto University will review the syllabus of BITS Design School and collaborate to achieve global standards of pedagogical approach and transdisciplinary education at the school. Students at BITS Design School will gain from the internationally relevant curriculum and the futuristic and industry-centric approach to design promoted through this partnership. Among the delegates from the Aalto team were Ms. Laura Sivula, Business Area Director, Lifewide Learning, Ms. Kit Srinivasan, Senior Manager (Global Engagement), Kirsi Kettula, Head of Global Engagement, Outi Turpeinen, Public Art and Exhibitions, and Riikka Mäkikoskela, Head of Radical Creativity. Ms. Laura Sivula remarked, “The curriculum for the bachelor’s program at BITS Design School is a great combination of global and localized design education catering to the needs of the Indian market. It is a powerful combination both in terms of a career in India and abroad.”
