Design is best learned when young minds explore ideas from across the world. In alignment with this philosophy, The Design School at Arizona State University (ASU), and BITS Design School (BITSDES) in Mumbai, have signed an agreement for collaboration. The sharing of knowledge through student programs and seminars will greatly contribute to building the foundational capabilities of design students. This collaboration will also help enhance the ecosystem for design learning and create opportunities for technological and academic interaction.
The collaboration will specifically seek to:
- Identify opportunities for the exchange of faculty and research staff.
- Explore opportunities for student exchange, studies, and research, including opportunities for sending and receiving visiting students for a semester or a year.
- Educate and engage academic personnel through sabbaticals, short stays, seminars, courses, and workshops.
- Jointly develop research programmes and projects.
- Jointly develop undergraduate and graduate programs in design.
- Organize joint academic events for students and faculty.
- Mutually provide advice, technical support, and services.
Among the representatives from Arizona State University involved in the collaboration are Dr. Paola Sanguinetti, Director of The Design School, and the leadership team at the ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Nandita Abraham, Interim Dean and CEO represented BITS Design School, Mumbai.
